Belize’s Standing Improves Among Central American Athletes
Belize’s overall ranking has improved since the prizewinning outing over the weekend. Of the seven participating Central American countries, Belize ranks fourth place.
Deon Sutherland, President, Belize Athletic Association
“Actually we prepared very well for it because last year we had some of these records. It was just an improvement. But since we have a Cuban coach in the country now for over the past year and he has been working very well with our athletes and then we have a few foreign athletes that participated with the team as well. So the combination and makeup of the team was very good.”
Isani Cayetano
“In terms of Belize’s ranking, so to speak, among the other countries, the Central American countries that participated, have you seen an improvement this year over previous years have been involved in the Central American Games.”
Deon Sutherland
“Well definitely, every year we continue to improve and be a force to be reckoned with in Central America. This year actually, overall we moved up from fifth to fourth in the ranking, in terms of the seven Central American countries. So we do see a vast improvement every year our performance.”
