Villacorte Claims that Detention Is Related to Domestic Situation with Arthur Saldivar
Villacorte says she believes that what has transpired is related to an ongoing custody battle with her common-law husband over the couple’s two children. They too are in the United States with Saldivar.

“No one has ever entered that house. Arthur has always visited the US and no one has burglarized it. Now conveniently because I am staying there alone, now this happens? This is so wrong. I think Arthur should be penalized and because he’s an attorney, that is so wrong. He’s not God, everybody should not bow down to him but when I was at the station he was God. Oh, everybody treat me like I am a scum. They say, you know what, you are not entitled to a call, nothing. Nobody knew [I was] here, I said can I call my work are? Can I call my job and tell them that I can’t report to work because I came to make a report thinking that the police would be at my side but instead I’ve been detained. I need to let my superiors know.”

“Now you’re making very loaded allegations against your common-law husband. Might this be a matter of you either being emotional or overreacting?”
Ana Villacorte
“This is something from the get go, from the very beginning that I have been in this abusive relationship but I thought that it was only going to get better. I do believe many women are in this situation but I am now speaking out.”
News Five has made several attempts to get in touch with Arthur Saldivar, but so far we have been unsuccessful. Ladyville police, on the other hand, acknowledge that they are aware of the dispute been Villacorte and Saldivar but strongly refute the allegation that she was mistreated while in custody overnight. Police also confirmed that Saldivar is in the U.S.
