Guzman Arraigned for City Shooting
The violence in the streets of the Old Capital continues. There was a shooting incident on Tuesday evening and fortunately no one was injured during the spray of bullets. Sometime around five p.m., Errol Flores reported that while riding a bicycle along Banak Street, he was accosted by another male person on bicycle. That individual who has since been identified as nineteen-year-old Davon Guzman, reportedly opened fire but missed his target altogether. Quick response from officers in the vicinity resulted in the apprehension of Guzman who was found in possession of a point thirty-eight revolver. In court this morning, he appeared unrepresented before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer where he pleaded not guilty of the charge of kept firearm without a gun license. He was additionally charged with aggravated assault and kept unlicensed ammunition. Guzman told the court that the firearm was not discovered on him and that it was found in an area not far away. Magistrate Frazer explained to him that bail cannot be granted so Guzman was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until September thirteenth.
