O.A.S. offers scholarships for graduate study
With tertiary level graduations taking place around the country this month, the Organization of American States is now accepting applications for students to pursue graduate degrees in 2005. According to a release from the Ministry of National Development, the courses should not exceed two academic years and are in the areas of Economic Development and Trade, Education, Government and Public Administration, Science and Technology, and Social Development and Poverty Alleviation. In addition to completing the application forms, prospective candidates must be a citizen or permanent resident of one of the O.A.S. member states, boast excellent academic skills, proficiency in the language of instruction, satisfy requirements for admittance to a graduate programme at a university, already have a university degree, and have academic or work experience in the chosen course of study. As part of the scholarship programme, successful applicants must return to their country upon completion of their degrees. Application forms can be obtained from the Ministry of National Development in Belmopan or at the O.A.S office in Belize City.
