Belize City Mayor Disavows Any Knowledge of William Mason

In early June, to kick off the hurricane season, the City Emergency Management Organization held its usual press conference at City Hall to update the public on preparedness. One man who played a role in that press conference was no other than William Mason, the alleged mastermind in the cruel beheading. Mason played the role of disaster expert who would be called in by CEMO in the event of any disaster requiring rescue. That’s a critical position in CEMO and Mason even spoke from the podium to highlight the capacity of his rescue and evacuation operation. From the City Hall podium to the Belize Central Prison, but today Mayor Darrell Bradley told News Five that he doesn’t have a clue who Mason is.

“I don’t know who that person is and the name that you mentioned didn’t ring a bell so that I absolutely no connection with that person and I would even go further though, but to say that one person has knowledge of somebody else does not imply anything in the least. Aaron, I know you, I know all the members of the media, but I don’t know what any of you would do. I mean I know you as professional colleagues, but to say that one person knows somebody else is to say absolutely nothing. I have no association with that person, I don’t know the name, I don’t recognize the name. But even if I did recognize the name, how can you say with any kind of linkage that if somebody is concern as you are in terms of CEMO or assisting with CEMO—which I am not aware of—that they would be any kind of….I don’t know what you seek to make from that. I am doing a press conference with you right now. I don’t know if you would do something like that. I mean I wouldn’t speak about that; I trust that you are very responsible in terms of what you are doing, but like I don’t know where you would get on that. I have no connection with that person and I don’t recognize the name.”
