Local movie begins run in cinema

Story Picture
The fledgling local movie industry is tonight celebrating another milestone with the premiere showing of the latest production entitled: “Risking it All.” According to writer/director Kimberly Vasquez, the ninety-minute film is a sequel to her first effort “Choices”, with the issue of HIV/AIDS as the central theme. Vasquez says that it took her nine months to finish the script, and another three for the actors and technicians to bring the story to life.

?The lead roles, Ikoku Bradley as Lisa, Paul Hope as Kendall, Stephanie Young as Marcia Ferguson, and Jason Garnett as Douglas Ferguson.?

?It?s woven around a story, two main couples who are facing certain issues, mainly infidelity and trust, the breaking of certain commitments and the consequences that they face as a result of that.?

?It is very emotionally charged, some strong emotions run throughout the movie and there is a very surprising twist in the plot towards the end.?

?I am hoping that apart from the entertainment aspect of it that they will walk away with the message that we are trying to convey thorough this movie all about the need for behaviour change and what will happen if you continue to basically risk it all as the movie says, you know involve yourself in risky lifestyles and the choices you make that will later cause a lot of anguish in your life later on.?

The movie opens tonight on screen two at the Princess Cinema with two shows and runs through June twenty-fourth. Tickets are fifteen dollars each, and Vasquez says that groups of ten are eligible for a special discount. Proceeds from the film will go towards HIV/AIDS awareness. Initial funding for the non-profit project came from the Rotary Clubs of Belize and the Cayman Islands. The cast and crew provided their talents free of charge.
