Another murder rocks Belama
There has been another murder in what has traditionally been considered one of the city’s quieter residential areas. Phase three of the neighbourhood called Belama was the scene where the latest dead body was found. Police Press Officer G. Michael Reid was on location shortly after the discovery and says the victim may have been killed sometime last night.
G. Michael Reid, Police Press Officer
“Sometime around three-thirty the police received information that there was a body in the area of Belama Phase Three. They responded and visited a house that is near the canal and outside near a vehicle that was parked was the body of this male person now identified as one Steve Thompson, thirty-three years old. He had what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the rear of the head. However that will have to be determined by a post mortem.”

“Does Mr. Thompson live at the house?”
G. Michael Reid
“From what we understand he was house sitting. It wasn?t his house, but in fact he was taking care of it for an individual who is supposed to be in the United States.”
Patrick Jones
“Apart from the apparent gunshot wound to the back of his head, is there any other evidence to suggest that foul play occurred?”
G. Michael Reid
“I would think that that?s enough evidence, but certainly we haven?t looked at it. The post mortem examination will have to determine all of that.”
Patrick Jones
“What about the physical state of the house, was it ransacked?”
G. Michael Reid
“Yes, there was evidence that in fact the house was burglarized and was indeed ransacked.”
The police are not certain what, if anything, was taken from the house. Area residents tell authorities that Thompson, also known as “Monster”, had only been at the house for a few months. According to police, the victim was no stranger to law enforcement authorities. The body awaits a post-mortem examination and police are appealing to anyone with information that may lead to Thompson’s killer or killers to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 922.
