Cyclist killed in highway knockdown
A traffic accident on the Iguana Creek road this afternoon claimed the life of an eighteen-year-old man from Blackman Eddy Village. Jareth Ireland was knocked off his bicycle by a Mitsubishi pickup driven by thirty-four year old Elvis Cadle. The Burrel Boom resident told police that he was attempting to overtake two other vehicles on the way to Spanish Lookout, when he saw Ireland who was riding in the same direction, but could not avoid the collision. Ireland, who suffered multiple head and body injuries, was rushed to the San Ignacio Hospital but was dead on arrival. Cadle has been arrested and was this evening charged for the crimes of manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, and driving without due care and attention.
