And just as Hulse enjoys the full support of the Prime Minister, so does Attorney General and now Minister of Natural Resources, Vanessa Retreage. She entered the political forefront in November 2015, but Barrow says she has been blazing a trail.

“She has been a splendid Attorney General. I worried a little because the concentration she has brought to her role as Attorney General has paid such tremendous dividends for us and to dilute that concentration is something that gave me pause for thought, but as I said she has a tremendous capacity for hard work, gifted with a lightning quick brain, understands because of her commercial practice as a lawyer some of what’s wrong in the Lands Department. I think Godwin has already put in place some new systems and progress is being made so I am entirely confident that the AG will be able to build on those systems and bring some ideas of her own and that we can continue to make progress at the Lands Department.”

The appointment of Retreage requires that one government senator be removed. That senator has been identified as Francine Burns from Orange Walk whose appointment was made in November following the General Elections.
