Belizean Killed in Guatemala

An investigation is ongoing on the overnight murder of a Belizean in Guatemala. News Five has confirmed that Mario Estuardo Cunil, a resident of Arenal on the Belizean side, was killed this morning in Guatemala. Reports are that on Monday night, the twenty-four year old left his home and went socializing at a bar on the other side of Arenal where he was involved in fight with some Guatemalan nationals.  A knife was introduced in the brawl and Cunil was stabbed multiple times, while another person, Guatemalan national Rolman Aldana Alvarado was stabbed once to the body. Both men were rushed to the nearest medical facility in the neighboring community of Melchor De Mencos, but Cunil succumbed to his injuries in the wee hours of this morning. The other stabbing victim remains hospitalized in a stable condition. Up to news time, there is no word if the body had been returned to Belize.
