Romania hit with more fraud charges
As expected, more charges have been filed against an alleged European con artist. Thirty-five year old Robertino Oprescu, a citizen of Romania, has been charged with theft along with nine counts each of possession of forged documents. The charges arise out of a scam in which Oprescu is accused of stealing over two hundred thousand dollars from the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital through the writing of forged K.H.M.H. cheques to bogus companies he controlled. Oprescu, who has been remanded to Hattieville Prison, is also said to be wanted in his native country following a fraud conviction there.
