Annual Unicomer Scholarships Awarded
Today, Unicomer’s Dare to Dream Scholarship program, in its eighteenth year, saw a new cohort of fourteen students benefit from the program. A total of thirty-three applicants were interviewed and five high school, seven sixth form and one university scholarship were awarded. The scholarship covers eighty percent of the cost of books and tuition while the parents will meet the other twenty percent. Unicomer’s Marketing Manager Karin Castellanos explains.

“These are children that had economic needs and there were different criterias that they went through. We did interviews with them and it was a committee of five of us, the scholarship committee and it was between all of us, having interviewed the kids, reviewing the documentation that they sent. Because they had to show the TD4, the income tax statement which shows the economic needs of the child; their grades, recommendations from teachers and principals. But the main thing was their grades. We interviewed them and now these are the fourteen like I mentioned. You can see their exciting faces and we can’t wait to present them with their awards and we are happy most importantly as a company to giving back to the community. It is our corporate social responsibility. Like I mentioned it is our eighteenth year and we are very happy. This is not something that is going to stop; it is going to continue and it is going to make a difference for these children’s education.”
