1000 Marched; But Was Anybody Listening?
There was no weekly Cabinet meeting today since Prime Minister Barrow is presently out of the country. In fact, all was quiet on Independence Hill this morning, save for a multitude of roughly one thousand churchgoers who converged on the plaza below to voice their discontent with government. The flood of worshipers came from various corners, primarily from the Toledo and Corozal districts. A total of twenty buses came in from the south, seven from the north and a few others from western Belize. Overall, the show of support today was significant when compared to previous lackluster outings. But, was the message of the National Evangelical Association of Belize effectively delivered since there was no one in political office today?
Pastor Lance Lewis, President, NEAB
“We had a discussion on this; there was the group that felt that we should come on Friday. We said that we should be different; we wanted to have something on Tuesday so we went back and forth. But eventually we agreed on Tuesday as a church presentation or prayer march or a steward demonstration to show our annoyance against the decision of the Chief Justice. So we just got to our chapter leaders and asked them to just announce it to their different parishioners and bring them up here today and this is what has happened.”

“What is the mobilization in terms of the number of buses or the various districts that are being represented here today?”
Pastor Lance Lewis
“Toledo has probably about twenty-five buses; Orange Walk, Corozal has about seven buses. There are buses from the west, but I am not sure of the number. But the total number would be over thirty-five. So that’s roughly fifty per bus…so multiply that and you should get an idea. There are over a thousand persons here today.”
Isani Cayetano
“Now critics may argue that the message being sent here today falls on deaf ears since the parliamentarians aren’t here for Cabinet meeting today.”
Pastor Lance Lewis
“The world has changed dramatically. We have internet, we have Facebook; so the message will be sent to them. They will get the message; they cannot ignore the message. It will be clear—it will be on the media, it will be on Facebook, it will be all over. So we are not doing it for them; we are doing it for the people and for the nation of Belize. We are sending the message that we do not agree with the decision by the Chief Justice. We want the Prime Minister to appeal it, but we are making our appeal by our presence here today.”
There is no definitive word if there will be another protest scheduled for Friday’s house meeting.
Churches go and appeal the ruling. Belize is not made only of churches and the expense by government will not bring any benefit to the economy. You also heard that you stand a small chance to win if you appeal, but try your luck and suffer the expenses. Collect from your churches and come up to about 300, 000 dollars and go ahead.
YES! God is listening even if many would say not, he is watching also who is trying to make it better and those that prefer to give the will to the bad decision. So Yes if the GOV didn’t listen the big Man there up in the sky was listening seeing his people trying to divert the people going the wrong way. So these pastors have spoken, now they are free of their responsibility in Gods view, it’s up to the GOV to listen or refuse and wait for the outcome.
Pastor Louis Wade and most of the Pastors present in Belmopan LIED to most of the people who attended. I have a friend who went to the protest. This is what he was told. Our pastor told us that we must all take the day off and go to Belmopan. That it is VERY IMPORTANT that we attend. That the end of the world is near. So my friend and lots of his friends went. They had NO IDEA that they were going to Protest Section 53. Pastors now telling lies to their own congregation just to show numbers. I HOPE YOU ARE PROUD LOUIS WADE!! THE BIGGEST SINNER THERE. “Thou Shall NOT LIE”. A commandment that was broken yesterday by Pastors all over Belize. Perhaps we can have the interviews of the average persons like my friend, instead of just pastors and American citizens, that would have been good to see.
Carl be careful what God gives you be can take it back..
