P.U.P. Joins Call for Government to Join UN Anti-Corruption Convention

John Briceño

The People’s United Party has joined the B.P.P. in demanding that the Barrow administration immediately sign on the UN Convention on Anti-corruption.  The urgent call for the U.D.P. government to endorse the convention comes amid the mounting scandals that the government is facing.

John Briceño, Leader of the Opposition

“No Mister Prime Minister; it is not too expensive to enact the UN Convention. It is a lot more expensive not to fight corruption with all our might. Every dollar that is stolen is a dollar less. We have to provide care and attention to the forty-three percent of people languishing in poverty. Every day we allow corruption to continue, we betray the living and the unborn in this country. We are committed as a party not just to changing this government and righting the wrong, but we are committed to radically overhaul this system of governance that allow such rampant and rank corruption to continue. The People’s United Party is also demanding that a fully functioning Integrity Commission be installed without further delay. Considering the level of fraudulent passports that were issued and the fact that there has been no re-registration since 1997, we call on the government to conduct re-registration before the next municipal elections.”

A dollar short and a day late, as usual. What took you so long?? That is not close to enough. Go on record as requesting help from the U.S. Justice Department in cleaning up this mess. This is theater. You are giving Barrow options when he is cornered! You know he won’t comply! This goes to heart of our problem as a nation. Crimes by politicians carry a maximum penalty of public shaming because politicos need to protect the hustling that comes with winning elections. If an every day citizen had done this crap, he or she would have gotten ten years for a microscopic percentage of what these sobs did. We are fed up of this kangaroo cycle with no accountability at the end. Go back to the drawing board. This goes maybe 25% of the way.
