San Pedro Man Claims Police Brutality; He is Rival with Policeman for a Girl
A thirty-two year old San Pedro resident is claiming police brutality. Allen Delroy Martinez says that he was beaten before being locked down at the police station for two days without any reason given to him for his detention. According to Martinez, he was brutalized by a police officer with whom he has been beefing for years over a girl. Today, Martinez travel to the city to seek legal advice from an attorney and demands that the Belize Police Department investigate his complaint. Martinez recollected what happened this past Saturday to our court reporter.
Allen Delroy Martinez, Claims Police Brutality
“I was having fun with some girlfriends of mine and all of a sudden, I felt someone snatch me from the neck. I asked who is this? I didn’t recognize it was police and so I hold his hand and I said, talk sick [bleep]; talk sick now. So the other girls that were with me said that it was police and so I said, what police want with me? And so he said you are going with me [bleep], you are going with me. I am going to kill you. So I tell him easy yo kill me right here right now. Why you have to take me, go kill me, take me far? Kill me in front of everybody so everybody could see. He choke me, choke me. Lift me up, slap me; take me to the truck, kick me up, punch me up…handcuff me, take me to the station, punch up me in my face, in my ribs and throw me into wah cell. And that was it. The Sunday morning, no charge sheet come and I asked what they are holding me for. They said disorderly conduct. So I did until Monday, they bring a paper stating that I owe five hundred dollars from way back.”
On a separate note, just a week ago, on August twenty-second, Martinez walked away from a very serious charged of rape. That case is in connection with the same woman in question that the two men have been dating on previous occasions.
