Miss Belize holds fashion/culture night

Throughout her reign, she’s become a household name, and on Friday night, Miss Belize Leilah Pandy is inviting the public to come to the Princess Hotel for an evening of entertainment as she models her costumes for the upcoming Miss Universe Pageant. According to the hopeful contestant, the fundraising event is part of efforts to change the image of what Miss Belize is all about.

?No matter who wins after me they will have in their contract that they are obligated to do this and to do that. Be the spokesperson for the Alliance, they will be working with Continental Airlines?four times out of the year Continental donates presents, they visit the children in the paediatric ward at the K.H.M.H. and we want Miss Belize to be an active presence in that also, and in other causes. So she?s not just a person who sits around and be beautiful the whole year round until it?s time for her to go to Miss Universe. But she does stuff in the country, she has a national tour, she gets to know Belize, gets to understand what it is that she is representing, what she is about in terms of Belize holistically. So that?s what we wanted to change and we seemed to do it to a certain extent. It?s up to the next Miss Belize after this to continue with it.?

Tickets for the Miss Belize fundraiser are available from DJ Tambran, Stone’s Muzik Outlet, and at the Princess Hotel. Pandy is scheduled to leave the country on Monday en route to Quito, Ecuador to take part in the Miss Universe pageant.
