This is the blue Ford Taurus car authorities believe was the getaway vehicle in the Belize Bank robbery on Tuesday at mile one and a half on the Northern Highway.

Sgt. Alden Dawson, Lead Investigator

“It has to do with the description that we received after the incident occurred. The description was a blue car, believe to be a Taurus with a missing front bumper, hence the reason we have the particular vehicle in our possession.”

The case?s lead investigator, Sgt. Alden Dawson says they received a tip that the vehicle was taken to this garage on Mahogany Street to be scrapped and that is where they found the car.

Sgt. Alden Dawson

“Well what we learnt from the person whose custody it was in, was that is was there to be scrapped. It was brought there by a male person to be scrapped.?

?At this time do you know who the suspects are??

Sgt. Alden Dawson

?The police presently are conducting the investigation and we are questioning a number of people who we believe might be able to assist us in this investigation.”

However, the police have been able to determine that it was a little over ten thousand dollars, including Belize and U.S. currency, that was taken from the bank tellers. Jacqueline Woods reporting for News 5.

Police say they strongly suspect that the robbers are still hiding out in the city.
