Immigration Director’s daughter arrested
It’s a story that’s been kicking around in the media for several weeks, and today, it’s official. Twenty-three year old Immigration Officer, April Parchue, daughter of the department’s director, Colonel Peter Parchue, appeared in Magistrate’s Court this afternoon to answer ten charges of theft and false accounting. The charges stem from an investigation by auditors into the finances of the Immigration Department which found that more than thirty-six thousand dollars had been “misappropriated”. Authorities sifted through piles of paperwork and came up with more than two hundred and eighteen irregularities in the receipt and cash books. The money is believed to have been embezzled during the period May 2003 to March 2004.
