Cadet Corps enjoys sports camp
Some four hundred and fifty children who belong to the Police Youth Cadet Corps are spending the last few days of their Easter vacation attending the Police Department’s annual sports camp. The event was opened on Thursday evening at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence with a lively ceremony. The young people range in age from nine to eighteen years and hail from eighteen towns and villages all over Belize. Police Commissioner Jose Carmen Zetina promised that the department would do all it can to maintain the programme, now in its ninth year, so that all Belizean youths have the opportunity to enjoy the healthy interaction and friendly competition. The sports camp is held under the direction of Superintendent Yolanda Murray and the sports competitions lasts for three days. The cadets are being housed at the Independence High School and hosted by the Village Council and Speaker of the House, Elizabeth Zabaneh.
