P.U.P. to Unveil Good Governance Policy on Party’s 66th Birthday

John Briceño

As we reported earlier, the sixty-sixth anniversary of the formation of the People’s United Party comes up later this week, on Thursday. The Opposition Party will dedicate this day to unveil a re-worked Good Governance Policy. Party leader John Briceño shared details today.

John Briceño, P.U.P. Leader

“It’s going to be a very important day for us. We as a party are going to present our plan of action on good governance. I think we have it down to about thirteen points. Now the whole idea that we want to do is to present these thirteen points to the public, but we are going to call it a living document because this is not the end. What we want to do with that document is circulate it widely; and have consultation with people, consultations with the unions, consultations with the private section, consultations with the N.G.O.s, consultations with the diplomatic corps…with anybody who is prepared to look at what we are doing and to offer and prepare constructive recommendations to us. So based on all those recommendations that we are going to do in the next years to come, that we believe that this document is going to evolve into the new policies of a P.U.P. government when it comes to the issue of good governance.”

Several of the points – like plans for an elected Senate, reform of the Integrity Commission and Public Accounts Committee in the House of Representatives – are holdovers from the party’s previous manifestos and policy documents. The event is scheduled for two in the afternoon at the Biltmore Plaza Hotel, in the party’s first venture outside of Independence Hall in some time.
