P.U.P. Reiterates Support for Teachers and Condemnation of Government
The Prime Minister conceded that he was prepared to increase to two the Opposition representatives on the Senate Select Committee to investigate the Special Audit on the Immigration Department. Today, we caught up with the Opposition Leader John Briceño. He expressed continued support to the B.N.T.U. That aside, Briceño condemned Government’s bullying and conniving ways. He told us that the Union needs to continue holding out against attempts to divide and conquer them.
John Briceño, P.U.P. Leader
“And when you look at the response that the Prime Minister has given to the teachers, again, you could see he is only trying to buy time and trying to find a way of how he can start to divide the teachers. That’s what he did with the P.S.U. and the senior managers in government; he has managed to effectively divide them so it is a divide and conquer management that the Prime Minister has been doing and now this is what now he is attempting to do with the teacher’s union. Whilst I don’t take it lightly that you are going to close down the schools—because the education of our children is very important—at the same we need to support the teachers, because what they are saying that what they are asking from the government is very important to this country.”
