Moses Sulph Vindicated; He Did Not Rape UB Student

Moses Sulph has been cleared of rape. Back in February 2013, Sulph was accused of raping a UB student at a house in Belmopan. He had denied the charge and maintained that he consensual sex with the woman. Today, Sulph stopped by our News Five studios to say that he feels vindicated after he was read a not guilty charge in court.

Moses Sulph, Not Guilty of Rape

“Three years ago, I was charged – wrongly accused of rape and I was charged—and finally it was brought to trial. The jurors, I thank God that they listened and differentiated the truth from…God revealed the truth to them.  So I am very grateful for that, but it almost destroyed me in a way—not because it was true, but because I was being blamed for something I didn’t do.  From the onset I did tell the truth that I had consensual intercourse with her, which she denied. So the burden on the jury from listening to both our testimony and listening to the evidence, determine where there were inconsistencies in different areas. From the onset, I did not deny having intercourse with her. I did. But was it against her will? No.”

“You have been found not guilty. Do you feel vindicated? I mean moving forward, what’s it like for you as a public person?”

“Yes I definitely feel vindicated because as I said before, I knew the truth but you have to convince others and my lawyer did a good job. And I also took the stand because I was innocent and I wanted to make that known. Now it feels good because I could have ended up in jail for twelve years, if it had went the other way. I would have been found guilty, but I still been innocent.”
