COLA Interrupts Senate and Fires Off at Senators Rocke and Hulse

While Senator Ashley Rocke was making the ultimately successful motion before the Senate, he was interrupted by Geovannie Brackett, the President of Citizens Organized for Liberty through Action and activist Raymond Rivers. Brackett and Rivers pointedly shouted at the embattled Rocke that he was not telling the truth about the origin of his motion and that he had let down the church and the country. They also joined in the call for Senator Godwin Hulse not to participate in the debate on the motions and deliberations despite the Acting President’s ruling. We spoke to them outside during the deliberation break, where Brackett went even further, hanging a most undesirable moniker on the man of the cloth.

“You know what is the honourable thing between Judas and other traitors? That Judas did the honourable thing; he found a tree and a rope because that’s what traitors represent. Let me tell you something…Pastor Rocke statement. If you notice we allowed him to finish his statement before we did what we did. We wanted to do it from the minute that they suspended the vote on whether or not Senator Hulse should recuse himself. From that very onset, we believed that we should have made a statement, but we wanted to hear what Senator Rocke said. Senator Rocke went on to begin his statement by saying that the church does not want any quarrel with anyone. Let me tell you something—Pastor Louis Wade is right behind you guys—and there is a biblical verse that Jesus said that I came not to unite, but to divide. You know why? Because whenever you have right and wrong, there will be division; whenever you have corruption and injustice, there will be division between those who stand on the right side and the wrong side. Today, Pastor Rocke stood on the wrong side. He stood against the church, he stood against the teachers, he stood against…. He said a social partner called him; you should ask him which social partner. Senator Lizarraga said it couldn’t be them. It certainly wasn’t COLA; it wasn’t Senator Elena Smith. So which social partner called Pastor Rocke. Pastor Rocke is fraudulent. He was appointed by just people like Howell Longsworth and he does not represent the church as it is, in its larger sense. He represents one or two people that condone his misbehaviour; that condone this kinds of actions by him. Senator Hulse should recuse himself; his name is all over…he’s been to Danny Mason’s house. The police should be bringing in Senator Hulse into investigation. They should be investigating him and everybody who visited his house. But you see, this government is trying to fight against the social partners from the very inception; this government is trying to protect those who have allegations of corruption. And Senator Hulse, I have no fate or no kind of hope in him again. And I think that our members have spoke very clearly here today—that from all of our members from the length and breadth of this country—and if you check the social media, people have lost fate in Senator Hulse and Ashley Rocke. Well Ashley Rocke has been the biggest disappointment today. And I think that the most decent thing to be done for Senator Hulse was to recuse himself. He knows what is right. When it was under the P.U.P., he had all the words that he could display and today, he has shown as if though his memory is gone. But we will not stand up for that and that’s why we came here to make that statement.”
