Man Charged for Ladyville Attempted Murder
A Ladyville man was arraigned and charged with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, dangerous harm, wounding and aggravated assaulted of two brothers which happened on September tenth. Twenty-one year old Jesse Mejia reportedly got into an argument with brothers Frank and Leroy Tejeda. It is said that the altercation resulted from an “old beef” and caused Mejia to pull out a machete and chopped the Tejeda brothers to the face and hands. Mejia appeared before Magistrate Aretha Ford where the charges were read in connection with the incident. No plea was taken because the matter is indictable. Preliminary Inquiry will be held at a later date and if there’s enough evidence then the matter will be committed to the Supreme Court for trial where a plea will then be taken. Mejia was unrepresented in court. Due to the nature of the offenses, bail was denied and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until December seventh.
