Taiwanese Embassy Hosts Annual Food Fair
If you are looking for something to do this weekend, you might want to check out the Taiwanese Embassy’s food fair. The annual event is used to share Taiwanese culture with Belizeans through food and music. The fair is free admission to the public and will feature a variety of foods, with a special highlight of face-painting. Here’s what you can expect at the food fair.
Kelly Chang, Third Secretary, Taiwanese Embassy
“The main purpose is to promote Taiwan’s culture. Through this festival, we want to invite all Belizeans not just from the city but all throughout the country, to enjoy and through this food festival they can get to know Taiwan better.”
Andrea Polanco
“Talk to us about some of the foods that people can enjoy?”
Kelly Chang
“So, you can see front of the flier, there will be twenty booths that will be at this event. So, there will be Taiwanese sausage, spring rolls, dumplings, and you see this, this is a type of milk that I heard is very popular in Belize. They will also sell that, so you see there will be all kinds of things. And apart from the food, there will also be face painting, so that shows a little bit of Taiwanese culture.”
Andrea Polanco
“Will there be any music?”
Kelly Chang
“Oh yes! Definitely. They will play some of the Chinese music on the spot, so come and enjoy the food and the music.”
It takes place on Saturday at the Memorial Park from ten a.m. to three in the afternoon.
