COLA Demands Good Governance Agenda be Implemented
For each of the demands by teachers for good governance, COLA is demanding G.O.B. to take action. Brackett says that government cannot continue to bury its head in the sand in the face of rampant corruption.
Geovannie Brackett, President, COLA
“The people demand good governance and an end to corruption. Our prime minister seems to think that it is okay to bury his head in the sand and pretend that corruption does not exist. Well, no more! Corruption is making the U.D.P. rich and making the people poor. It is destroying this nation. We at COLA stand by the demands of our teachers, the demands for good governance and social justice. Give the teachers the three percent stolen from them by corruption and appoint the thirteenth senator now. The same way you can call the Social Security Board and suggest to pay fifty million dollars to Michael Ashcroft, call them now and demand that employees be covered to and from work. Appoint the Integrity Commission, a real one, not a bogus one filled with U.D.P. cronies. Pass the OSH Bill and stop playing games with our poor people. Mr. Barrow, to fill the coffers of the rich, stop trying to hijack the senate inquiry with your lackeys in the senate. Allow the will of the people to prevail. COLA is calling out our eight hundred members and over three thousand supporters in this country to come to support on Wednesday this massive demonstration led by the B.N.T.U., a demonstration against injustice and a message to the prime minister that we at COLA have gotten the memo. The people of Belize have gotten the memo, it is time for you Mr. Prime Minister to get the memo and understand that empty promises are a comfort to a fool and we are no fools.”
