Trigger happy shopkeepers spray bullets
Seven people have been detained by police following an incident in Belize City in which a group of Chinese shopkeepers got trigger-happy following an argument with customers. The action unfolded around twelve-thirty this afternoon at the corner of Vernon and Mayflower Streets. According to police reports, a pair of customers had a misunderstanding with the merchants and returned to the store, stoning it with glass bottles. The Chinese came out shooting, but the only casualty was a seven-year-old boy, Earl Reneau Junior, who was grazed on the neck by a stray bullet. Police recovered a sixteen-gauge shotgun and a nine-millimetre handgun, along with two expended shotgun shells and a nine-millimetre slug found in the boy’s house.
