Child swept away by river current
A seven-year-old child drowned over the weekend. Raymond Arnold’s mother, Tricia Reynolds of Belize City, reported that she and her three children were bathing in the river at Butcher Burns when Raymond was suddenly swept downstream by the current. A search was immediately launched and two hours later the child’s body was located. The Police Department has issued a warning, and a reminder, to all families to be particularly vigilant and monitor their children constantly while on outings near the sea or along the rivers. Rivers in particular can have strong undercurrents that can cause experienced swimmers to have difficulty.
