Jim Arnold poetry book released

He’s the self proclaimed “Bachelor of Antics” and tonight Jim Arnold has a fresh instalment of his literary creations. The fifty-two poems in this second book are published under the title: “Just for You.” Arnold says no subject was off limits when he worked on putting the project together.

“Just for You” is a compilation of Belizean poetry. I wrote all of them and it has one in there for everyone. We have Christian, we have hypocritical, we have political, and various issues that concern the Belizean society on a whole.”

“I believe that all students because what I get to understand now is that most of the students are still reciting poetry from abroad. And we would like to see more of our very own poets get more established through the school system.”

“I have one in there that is called “Stranger in Your Own Land” and I believe that if we as Belizeans don’t give heed, we will definitely become strangers in our own land.”

“Not everyone coming is American

That one over there looks like an Indian

One dozen just came from Taiwan

Adding to our population

Bringing with them segregation

The passport they have is Belizean

Making you the stranger is their intention.”

“The underlying message is to have respect and love and sharing for each other. That’s the bottom line goal of the messages in all the poems.”

“Just For You” sells for twelve dollars and is available at outlets in Belize City and from Print Belize in Belmopan. Arnold says he chose to compile the book in Kriol because of his support for the work of the Belize Kriol Project.
