CITCO launches website
It took sometime to get off the ground, but the City of Belize finally has its own website. It was launched during a short ceremony today at City Hall. According to Deputy Mayor Yasmin Shoman, CITCO wanted to put up a website for people of all ages to learn about the legislation that governs the City Council and much more.
Yasmin Shoman, Deputy Mayor, Belize City
“You’ll have information about each city councillor, the mayor, deputy mayor. You’ll see their portfolio allocations and responsibilities and duties. You’ll see a photo, so you know who your elected officials are. You’ll have information about the sixteen Belize City Council departments. There’s a link that will tell you about the work that we did with our sister cities abroad. You’ll have a link on tourism. You’ll have a link that is called “City Profile” which will give you climate, airports, seaports, legislature, things of that nature. Just basically information about our ethnic groups and things they might be of great interest to visitors who might be planning to come to Belize City.”

“Equally interesting, I noticed that visitors to this website will also be able to contact the city of Belize with whatever queries or concerns they may have.”
Yasmin Shoman
“Most residents should know by now that we do have a complaint line. And as the mayor mentioned, it does tend to be flooded from time to time, it’s a bit much for us to handle to be quite honesty, so we have a little suggestion box where you can write in and give us your suggestions, recommendations, maybe if a street needs to be patched, if there is a dead dog lying on the side of the road, if your garbage hasn’t been picked up, email us and let us know what isn’t going right and also email us and let us know what you are happy with so we know what we’re doing well and hopefully we can improve and develop our city in a meaningful and effective manner.”
