Police Prepare to Keep the Peace on Holiday Weekend
With weekend Garifuna Settlement Day festivities commencing in Belize City on Thursday, additional boots on the ground are being deployed onto the streets in various hotspots. ACP Williams says it’s all part of a concerted effort to keep the country safe during the Nineteenth celebrations.
ACP Chester Williams, Regional Commander, Eastern Division South
“I also want to assure the public that going into the weekend we know it will be a busy one, it is the Nineteenth weekend, we will ensure that we have sufficient police officers on the street conducting patrols to be able to ensure that the city, South Side particularly, where I am in charge of, I am sure that Commander North and the other commanders will be doing the same, that there is some semblance of peace over the weekend period. And our officers will be out, they will be vigilant and they will be conducting anti-crime operations, stop and search and these sorts of things, all geared at ensuring that we have a peaceful weekend.”
