Unlucky Burglars Caught in Freezer
A pair of burglars was caught in the act just after twelve o’clock this morning by officers attached to the Eastern Division South. The duo had broken into Lucky Supermarket on Central American Boulevard in Belize City under the cover of darkness when police arrived on the scene. To avoid the long arms of the law, one of the burglars hid inside a freezer, but alert officers pulled him out and he is now thawing out in police custody. ACP Chester Williams told News Five today that the men are soon to be charged for the crime.
ACP Chester Williams, Regional Commander, Eastern Division South
“Last night sometime around after midnight, police received a call of a burglary in progress at Lucky Supermarket. Police quick response to the location led to the discovery of two male persons inside the store; one of who was hiding inside the freezer. The freezer was on, had meat and ice in it, but the man was properly concealing himself within the freezer, with the door closed. And upon the police checking the freezer, they found him in the freezer and they took him out. He and his colleague are now in the custody of the police pending charges of burglary. We are trying to do whatever we can to be able to make our area of responsibility more safer. And we are getting the cooperation on the public in most regards and that has been helpful to us. And we want to continue what it is that we are doing and see where we can build on areas that we need to build on.”
