Asian poultry banned due to flu
Belize has long been self sufficient in poultry, but health and agricultural officials are taking no chances. With Avian Influenza threatening Asia, all poultry imports from that part of the world have been banned. The ban not only includes the nonexistent commercial trade, but also covers individuals from the Far East entering by land, sea, and air who may be carrying food for home consumption. Belize is free of the deadly bird flu and these precautions are expected to keep it that way.
