Ground broken on new Placencia police station
In police news of a different nature, ground was officially broken this morning on a new police station for the burgeoning village of Placencia. Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Stann Creek West Area Representative Rodwell Ferguson did the honours this morning on the one hundred and thirty thousand dollar structure. The old police station on the beach was damaged by Hurricane Iris and the new location is considered more appropriate for the growing community, which has become a major centre for tourism. The two story concrete building should be completed within four months and there are plans to add a barracks facility, criminal investigation office, and disaster management headquarters.
