Carla Barnett appointed Musa’s C.E.O.

And if it looks like the Prime Minister has his hands full, don’t worry, he’s about to get some very capable help. It was announced today that the Chief Executive Officer in the P.M.’s newly created Ministry of national Development will be none other than Dr. Carla Barnett. Barnett’s resume is as impressive as any to be found in government and includes stints as Deputy Governor of the Belize Central Bank and, more recently, Deputy Secretary General of CARICOM. Many observers, who believe that Prime Minister Musa’s commitment to good governance does not extend beyond speechmaking, will be looking to the straight shooting Barnett to put the brakes on that freewheeling feeling that currently pervades Belmopan.
