Two charged with rape in Corozal

Two men have been charged with rape in separate incidents in the Corozal District. Twenty-eight year old Higinio Canto of Caledonia Village was arrested following a report by a fifteen-year-old girl who told police that on Sunday evening a drunken Canto called for her at her house and entered. He then proceeded to tear off her clothes, slap her in the mouth, and force her to have sexual intercourse against her will.

The second incident occurred that same night around eleven when a woman from Corozal Town told police that twenty-six year old Anacleto Catch of Xaibe Village drove his pickup truck next to her as she was riding her bicycle. When she reached her destination he got out of his vehicle and at knifepoint ordered her to accompany him in his truck. She was taken to a cane field where she was forced to engage in sex. Catch, like Canto, has been charged with rape.
