Was Dead Woman Found in Belize River a Murder Victim?

Ladyville Police are investigating the ghastly discovery of a badly decomposed body found floating along the Belize River earlier today.  The body of an unidentified woman was retrieved from the waterway this afternoon, in an area approximately three miles downstream from the Burrell Boom Bridge.  Dressed in a dark blue blouse and a pair of blue jeans pants, the remains of a woman of Creole descent, believed to be in her thirties, was spotted by a boater traveling toward the mouth of the river.  Officers were immediately dispatched to the area and the body was later fished from the water.  According to Ladyville Police, a length of rope was found tied to the woman’s feet, suggesting that her death may have been the result of foul play.  While she has not been positively identified, we can confirm that a tattoo bearing the name MICH, along with a rose near the right breast, was observed on the body.  Due to the advanced state of decomposition, an autopsy was conducted on site before the body was buried in Lord’s Bank Village.  Late this evening, News Five spoke with Assistant Commissioner of Police Edward Broaster who told us that there is no report of a missing person with that description within his jurisdiction. An investigation to ascertain the woman’s identity, as well as the motive for her death remains ongoing.
