Interdicted Cop and Brother of Policeman to be Tried in Separate Sex Assault Cases
Interdicted police officer, Darren Evan Martinez who was accused of committing a heinous act on an eight year old child in February of this year, will have to stand trial at the Supreme Court for the offense of sexual assault on the minor. In the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, his case was committed to stand trial at the January 2017 session of the Supreme Court. On May sixteenth, 2016, PC Martinez was arraigned before Magistrate Deborah Rogers and was denied bail and remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison. After four nights on remand at the prison, he was able to secure bail through the Supreme Court with the assistance of his attorney, Oswald Twist in the sum of ten thousand dollars plus two sureties of five thousand dollars granted to him by Supreme Court judge, Herbert Lord.
And while a cop is waiting to see the outcome of his sexual assault case, the brother of a cop will also have to stand trial at the Supreme Court for sexually abusing a fourteen year old school girl. Twenty-three year old Kishane McDougall will be tried for unlawful sexual intercourse in the January session of the Supreme Court. The fourteen-year old girl alleges that she met McDougall at a home in the city where he abused her on January twelfth of this year.
