Eastern Division North gives kids a Christmas treat
Eighty children from the least privileged areas of Eastern Division North got a Christmas treat from their friendly neighborhood cops based at Queen Street. With Ozzie the Clown as guest, all they could eat and drink, and a toy to take home, a good time was had by all this afternoon at the North side precinct. Of course, Police are also looking out for their continued safety during the festive season. Assistant Commissioner of Police Dezerie Phillips shares with us their community efforts and tips to keep the kids safe through Christmas.

“We have been working very closely with the Majestic Alley, the Pickstock Area, Kelly Street and the Jungle areas and those are where we got the children from.

“Now aside from Christmas celebration I am pretty sure you are going to use this opportunity to give these children a message, in terms of Christmas sort, safety that sort of thing…what is the message that you all are going to send to the parents through these children?”
ACP Dezerie Phillips
“Well we want to encourage the parents to ensure that they know where their children are at all times, School is now closed and we know that there are a lot of children who will be walking around. And we want to encourage the parents to ensure that you keep your child busy if not you keep your child in view of where you are. Don’t send your children out unsupervised, don’t have them going and playing in water so we don’t have any kind of drowning, playing with fire, I mean we want to ensure that the children remain where they are supervised.”
