O.A.S. funds four projects in Belize
The Organisation of American States has approved funding for four projects in Belize. The Ministry of Education will coordinate a three-year programme to use satellite television and internet to educate rural teachers. First year O.A.S. funding is one hundred and fifty-four thousand U.S. dollars. The Belize Business Bureau is the executing agency for a forty-nine thousand U.S. dollar grant to promote entrepreneurship using the Junior Achievement programme. The funding covers the second year of the three-year project. The Janus Foundation of Cayo will supervise the implementation of a four-year project, which will explore sustainable land use for degraded pastures. The eighty-five thousand U.S. dollar grant covers year two expenses. And in the Belize District women and girls in Gales Point will benefit from the final year of funding for a programme to provide alternative means of employment and small business skills. The disbursement comes to just under twenty-one thousand U.S. dollars. The four projects are being funded under the auspices of the Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development.
