Conman wanted by cops

He may not be carrying a handgun, but there is no doubt that armed only with a smile and a handshake, the subject of our lead story is dangerous. Jacqueline Woods has more on a conman who has left a trail of bad cheques from Hondo to Sarstoon.
G. Michael Reid, Police Press Officer
“Be alert. And in particular, people in the business community whenever a cheque comes to you be sure you that you have proper identification. If possible take a picture of the picture of the person for whom you are cashing the cheque.”
Jacqueline Woods, Reporting
The police want the public to be very wary of this man, thirty-six year old Ajay Bajaj also going by the name Ernesto Pacheco. He is suspected to be the man who has been ripping off business houses across the country with bogus cheques.
G. Michael Reid
“We have quite a number of cheques that have borne his signature. These are cheques that are obvious forgeries, there are cheques that have been written to accounts like permanent business places, and even Social Security and the Government of Belize.”
Although the police have known about Bajaj for a while, they have been unable to capture him.
G. Michael Reid
“We believe he is still in the country. As a matter of fact, as we speak the police are out there looking for him and are hoping that someone will be able to assist us to his whereabouts.”
“Obviously this guy is very good at what he does. He is a master forgery, he’s quite deceitful and we are concerned that he might not only be forging cheques, but might be pulling other cons on innocent citizens.”
