Search of immigration agent’s house turns up nada

And in a final bit of police news, the cops were out in force today following up a lead in none other than the now infamous immigration scandal. Based on a tip that there were computer records of illegal passport sales, police searched the home of immigration agent Jose Shoman on the Northern Highway. The effort apparently turned up nothing of consequence. Only one person has been arrested and charged in the passport scam: Therese Cabral, who is a long time employee of Shoman. Two others who have outstanding warrants waiting for them, should they ever return to Belize, are Gabby Affif and Hassan Al Sayed. Both are said to be hanging out in Miami with occasional side trips to Lebanon. It is estimated that between a thousand and two thousand passports were sold by various agents who reaped million of dollars in profits, while at the same time severely compromising the national security of Belize and that of the rest of the world.
