Ammunition Also Removed by Police
Forty-year-old Kirk Pitts was remanded to prison for possession of ammunition and a small quantity of weed. Over the weekend, police busted Pitts with several nine millimeter ammunition and less than half gram of cannabis. Police were on mobile patrol when they spotted Pitts looking suspicious on a veranda on Faber’s Road Extension in Belize City. A search later turned up the illegal ammunition hidden in a plastic bag inside Pitts’ pants pocket. Pitts appeared unrepresented in court today where he was read two criminal offenses; one count of kept ammunition without a gun license for four live rounds of nine millimeter ammunition and another charge of possession of a controlled drug for zero point seven grams of cannabis allegedly found on his person. Pitts pleaded not guilty to the charges, but he was informed that due to the nature of the offenses, he will not be granted bail and was remanded to custody until March twenty-fourth. Before leaving the court, Pitts told Magistrate that the ammunition were planted on him by the police.
