G.S.U. Raid Nets 8 with Weed
Eight persons were arrested and charged today for drug trafficking offenses, following a raid by the Gang Suppression Unit of a house on Lavender Street in the Saint Martin’s area. Just after five p.m. on Monday, members of the GSU executed a search warrant for controlled drugs at the residence of Elsworth Morter. Present at the time of the search were Morter, Jose Zelaya, Joseph Lopez, Tyron Macfoy, Shenique Perez, Keara Hemsley, Eugene Macfoy, Vivian Fuller and two minors. As the officers searched all persons inside the home, a bag containing forty-two grams of suspected cannabis was found inside Morter’s pocket. Further checks inside the house led to another plastic bag behind a TV containing forty-nine grams of suspected cannabis. But inside two barrels, the GSU officers found fifty-four parcels in black plastic bags containing a whopping thirteen point five kilograms, which is a little less than thirty pounds of suspected weed. Morter was charged for one count of Possession of Controlled Drugs for the weed found on him. He and his guests were also charged with two counts of Possession of Controlled Drugs with the Intent to Supply to Another.
