Jasmine Alert Prez Says Case “Crosses the Line”

Since his wife’s passing, Sagastume and his daughter have not been able to contact the children and don’t know their whereabouts. But the family has been in touch with personnel at Social Services, and has received little comfort since the department reportedly told them that the children cannot be returned to them. Sagastume and his older daughter, Sandra Alfaro, were before the courts today. She explains that the children—ages seventeen, fifteen, twelve, ten, eight, six and two years—have been placed in various foster homes.

“I wanted to speak to say that I can help my father to take care of my little brothers because I helped them to take care since I can remember, I started to help my mother. Every time my lee brothers dehn get sick, I take them to the hospital. I noh agree cause they left we and we noh know nothing about my little brothers. I noh know where they live, we noh know the phone numbers of the person that takes care of them. We noh know even if they still in the city. We don’t know anything about them. I noh see them from the twenty-second that we had my ma funeral.”

“To me this case crosses every line that I can’t even understand. To start with, the parents, the dad doesn’t know where the kids are. They are missing? No, they are in good care. Who is good care? Well they are with Social. Okay, how do we know who that person is? There are a lot of questions that are unanswered. So that’s how I got involved in the case.”

The parties return to court on May second.
