CARE-Belize receives vehicles from Taiwan

Story Picture
Exactly one year ago, CARE-Belize was established to give special assistance to the disabled, especially young children. What makes the organisation’s work unique is that most of its services are conducted in the homes of the people it helps. That means its field officers must travel on the road to get their work done. Today CARE-Belize received a much needed birthday gift from the Republic of China on Taiwan. This evening the Isuzu pickup truck was officially handed over to CARE-Belize Director, Dolores Godfrey, by Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Eugene Chien.

Dolores Godfrey, Director, CARE-Belize

“We don’t have any clinics. We do the physical therapy in the home of the disabled child. So we are constantly on the road.”

“The vehicle will be used mainly by our physical therapist for travelling around the Belize and Cayo Districts, visiting the homes of children that need physical therapy.”

Eugene Chien, Taiwanese Foreign Minister

“First of all, Belize is our ally, a long time good friend. The second is that we are very impressed Madam Musa’s CARE-Belize work and we understand she needs an extra truck for her service. Therefore, we decide to send her a gift for CARE-Belize.”

A documentary on the activities of CARE-Belize will be shown immediately following this newscast.
