Weed busts put crimp in pot supply

Story Picture
Marijuana smokers hoping to see an end to an alleged weed shortage will not be happy tonight as two busts, one in Orange Walk and the other in Belize City, may put a crimp in the supply of the popular herb. On Wednesday morning cops raided two pot plantations five miles southeast of Guinea Grass and destroyed a total of ten thousand plants ranging in height from five to seven feet. They also damaged next year’s crop by seizing a pound of seeds. No persons were found in the area. Meanwhile, over seven pounds of ganga that managed to make it from the fields to the city will not reach the lips of consumers tonight. This morning cops searched the residence of forty-three year old Godfrey Rowland on Doris Brooks Street where they discovered thirty plastic bags of the drug, each weighing roughly a quarter pound. Rowland has been charged with drug trafficking.
