What Was “Tutsi” Doing with Weed in the Dike?
Police Corporal Darrel ‘Tutsi’ Usher remains in police custody tonight after being busted with a little over twenty pounds of marijuana over the weekend. According to his colleagues at Eastern Division, a man was observed exiting from an overgrown property in the Faber’s Road Extension area. The individual was seen lugging a large bag which he placed in the backseat of a white Chevy SUV. That person then drove off with the cargo, but not before being pursued by the officers. He was eventually pulled over and identified as Darrel Usher, otherwise known as Tutsi. Instead of allowing the officers to conduct a search of the vehicle, Usher reportedly sped off in the direction of a remote area popularly known as Dikes. The vehicle was discovered a short time later with its doors flung open. Usher was then observed fleeing on foot with the black bag in the direction of the sewage ponds and successfully evaded capture. The vehicle, as well as the bag which was later fished from the pond, were taken to the police station where the contents of the bag revealed three brown packages stuffed with cannabis. The combined quantity weighed in at twenty pounds, ten ounces. While Usher has been charged with drug trafficking, he was not arraigned today because of a bungled charge sheet. News Five spoke with attorney Richard ‘Dickie’ Bradley who is representing Usher.

“Well in the case of Mr. Usher, there was an error on the charge sheet, small but important enough for the police to feel that they better make corrections thereto. As a consequence it took a while and so Mr. Usher was brought to court this afternoon. He could not be arraigned in the magistrate’s court because the amended charge sheet had not yet arrived from the police department. So as a result, they decided to in fact postpone his matter until tomorrow. Hopefully we will get in front of the magistrate.”

“Tell us the allegation being made against Officer Usher.”
Richard ‘Dickie’ Bradley
“I’m glad you used that word because it is important to remember that it is an allegation that in fact he is being charged. The allegation is that he was in possession of from the tenth of March, today is the thirteenth. Sometime Friday night early Saturday morning, police is alleging that a bag of weed was found in the vicinity of where his vehicle was, where he may have driven his vehicle and as a consequence he is being charged for that. It is not something that was found in his hands or in his house or that he was in the vehicle when it was alleged to have been found. So the allegation is that, listen, it’s your vehicle, you were in possession of the vehicle. You may not have been in possession of it at the time but weed was found in there, nine thousand three hundred and fifty-three grams of marijuana. So that is what he is being charged for.”
Bradley is a defense attorney, and a damn good one.The man is doing his job.A person is innocent until proven guilty. The burden of proof is on the prosecutor.
