Is Shyne the Right Choice for Music and Politics?

Shyne

Exit Dean, enter Shyne? The entertainer-turned-aspiring politician has made no secret of his plans to succeed uncle and mentor Michael Finnegan, who recently announced plans to step down as area representative of Mesopotamia division. After deportation from the U.S., Prime Minister Dean Barrow’s first-born son was appointed as Music Ambassador under the National Institute of Culture and History, but some feel he is not doing his job. The Prime Minister was asked about it and says he has not been told of any problems, and in any event his son can certainly defend himself. He also gave his blessing to an electoral run.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“I gather that he has put up quite a spirited and meritorious defense of the charges – I don’t know; I am not at NICH; I am not the Minister of Culture. But the little I see, I get the impression that he has been doing an excellent job as Musical Ambassador. People will always throw stones, people will always be free with their accusations, especially because in terms of your first question, he is very clearly interested in politics; you take your lumps and I would know that better than anybody else. So where that is concerned, I think he can defend himself; I am positive that he has a case that he can put forward to the public and to the artists that absolutely will vindicate him. With respect to his political ambitions, he is perfectly free to have those; I certainly believe in public service. And so to the extent that he would want to get involved in public service at that level, I applaud him and encourage him.”
