Ten Belizeans awarded O.A.S. scholarships
Ten Belizeans have been awarded scholarships for the 2003-2004 academic year under programmes administered by the Organization of American States. Haydee Alonzo will attend Alberto Hurtado University in Chile and work towards a Masters Degree. Lydia Balderamos will pursue a doctorate at New Mexico State. Nic Requeña will go for a masters in marine biology at the University of South Carolina, while Lynette Gomez will also seek a masters in environmental resource management at the same school. Herman Byrd looks for a Ph.D. in education at Gonzaga University in Washington State. Darlene Peters attends Boston College for a masters in education. Jose Trejo will study for a masters in international relations at Ohio University and Omar Figueroa will attend the University of Florida for a masters in conservation. Undergraduate scholarships were awarded to Daniel Matus, who will study engineering at Florida State, while Nahir Habet takes up mechanical engineering at the University of North Carolina.
